Representation Mood Board

 Representation:

A representation is how something is perceived or shown. The representation of a person or a character demonstrates how someone wants to appear to other people.

A representation within the media is always constructed by a director or producer.

Stereotypes:

A stereotype is an assumption of someones personality due to the judgment of how they look or act around other people.

Stereotypes within the media are often used as a self explanatory way of presenting a character to an audience with out having to provide a back story.

The Effect of Stereotypes:

Some stereotypes can be taken as a positive judgement, for example, women are good mothers. however there is a fine line within the media between a stereotype being humorous and a stereotype being prejudice and offensive.
